NY pride will simultaneously host World pride on 2019, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Stonewall Uprising.
Stonewall Uprising History: On June 29, 1969, an unexpected Police raid brought Stonewall Inn (at the time it was known to be popular among the most marginalized people in the gay community) to one of the most iconic and historic riots in history. Tensions between New York City police and gay residents of Greenwich Village erupted into more protests the next evening, and again several nights later. Within weeks, Village residents quickly organized into activist groups to concentrate efforts on establishing places for gays and lesbians to be open about their sexual orientation without fear of being arrested. From that date the movement has grown to what it is today. It is widely considered to be the single most important event leading to the gay liberation movement, being more important than the LGBT movement in the United States.
NY Pride: Pride is a singular celebration with a million faces—individuals, families, lovers, leaders, and friends. No destination embodies its spirit better than New York City. With countless people and places, this city proves that something can be multifaceted, yet one of a kind.
Without a doubt it will be a one in a lifetime time experience, a remarkable time for you to Visit New York City, enjoy the city and celebrate. It will be the first World Pride hosted on United States soil, and the second North American World Pride in the event’s nearly 20-year history.
We’ve made things simpler, so you can enjoy this wonderful city and make your trip to New York City a great experience.

WALKING TOUR: Greenwich Village – On this tour, we explore the heart of the West Village, where the gay liberation movement took off, with the Stonewall riots in 1969 and the first Gay Pride parade a year later. But the Village’s gay history goes back a century before that, to the time of Walt Whitman. Since that time, like Paris’ Left Bank, the Village has been the center of all the city’s many countercultures and artistic movements, from the creators of Off Broadway to the Beats and the Factory—and of course the gay liberation movement. During this tour, we see the places where Villagers have lived and loved, including the sites of the drag shows and gay bars which have dotted the Village for 150 years—and of course the Stonewall Inn, where our tour starts and ends.
